TVMF Offers Pet Heatstroke Prevention Event at East Lake Cat Care Center in Dallas

They say there are only two kinds of weather in a Texas summer—hot and hotter. To keep ourselves safe during those sweltering temperatures, we make sure to hydrate and wear sunscreen, but our four-legged friends also require some preventative measures to stay safe during the hottest months of the year.

The Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation (TVMF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring the health and welfare of animals throughout Texas, offers heatstroke prevention events as a way to educate pet owners on the importance of summer safety for their pets. During the event, which is sponsored by TVMF and Dr. Karen Fling of East Lake Veterinary Hospital in Dallas, pet owners can learn how to prevent heatstroke, how to recognize the signs of heatstroke and what to do if their pet overheats.

This free event will take place at the East Lake Cat Care Center in Dallas on Saturday, April 26, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to the educational materials on heatstroke and heartworms, pet owners also will receive free goodies for their four-legged friends.

Interested in Hosting a Community Awareness Event?

The Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation (TVMF) is dedicated to supporting the veterinary community by being the public relations and philanthropic arm of the veterinary profession and providing programs advocating responsible pet ownership and educating the public about the importance of veterinary care for their pets. But in order to do that, TVMF needs your help.

If you've thought about partnering with TVMF to host an event, call TVMF Director Leah Ann Tibbitts at 512/452-4224 today because dates are filling up fast.

Some past examples of TVMF community partner events include the summer heatstroke awareness seminars (which take place in cities across Texas), disaster preparedness clinics and pet CPR workshops.

TVMF thanks you for your interest in partnering with TVMF to support our mission of educating the pet owning public. We are deeply grateful for the generous support of friends in Texas who share our commitment of ensuring the health and welfare of animals in Texas.
