The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) is the charitable arm of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). For 50 years, the AVMF has been dedicated to embracing and advancing the well-being and medical care of animals.
In 2005, the American Veterinary Medical Foundation Our Oath in Action program was created in response to the devastating impact Hurricane Katrina left in the Gulf Coast area of the United States. To assist in the recovery efforts in New Orleans, the AVMF organized volunteer members of the veterinary community in animal shelter cleanup efforts. The inaugural program was so well received that Our Oath in Action became a permanent program for the Foundation with an annual shelter project held in conjunction with the AVMA annual convention.
In 2013 Our Oath in Action is being expanded nationwide beginning with six communities across the country: Alabama, Illinois, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and South Dakota.
Join us on October 26, 2013 as we put Our Oath in Action for the animals of Texas.
TVMF and students from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M will be participating in the American Veterinary Medical Foundation's Our Oath in Action Day by providing pet owners with information on keeping their pets safe this holiday season!
Is your home hazard-free? Does your pooch sniff out chocolate? With the holidays right around the corner, many things that make the holidays so merry could be harmful to your pet’s health.
Stop by the Our Oath in Action Day booth at the Aggie Fan Zone at Kyle Field for some helpful pet poison tips to get you ready for the holiday season!
